I got negative – who can help me?

If the BAMF (Migration Office) rejects your asylum request (Ablehnung), you have 2 options to react:

You accept the decision and return to your home country (If you decide to return, there may be the possibility of getting financial aid. Please consider our article here).

Or you appeal the negative decision:

  • Consider the deadline to appeal which counts from the date on you have received the notice.
  • Get free legal advice at Eine Welt Haus: click here for the locations and opening hours.
  • Get free legal advice at Refugee Law Clinic: click here for the locations and opening hours.
  • Get a lawyer: the 1st appointment usually costs 300 euros (some lawyers accept the option of monthly payment agreement).

Please note: When appealing the negative BAMF decision, you will not get a residence permit. Instead, you usually remain with the Aufenthaltsgestattung (see our article here) or receive the Duldung (deportation is temporarily suspended).
